So who is this Anaglyph person?
I’m probably something of an anomaly when it comes to anime bloggers: an English guy who is quite a bit older than the majority of the bloggers out there, and on top of that I acquired a taste for anime later in life than is usual, being in my thirties when the obsession struck around June of 2006. If you want to know the details of how this came to pass read this post. It would be nice if this older perspective imbued my writing with comparatively greater insight and wisdom but that is not the case, alas, as you will have noticed by now if you’ve read any of my drivel.
What sort of anime do you like?
Pretty much anything really, from intelligent SF such as Ghost in the Shell to gender-bending fun like Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru. If it has unusual ideas and a complex plot great; if it requires switching off the brain and enjoying the fanservice that’s also great. I’m not fussy. “Variety is the spice of life” is an aphorism that I like to bear in mind. Which is not to say I’ll watch any show - I dropped the ghastly Yumeria fairly quickly - but I will give any genre and most individual shows a chance. About the only thing that’ll make me think twice about watching a series is the presence of mecha. Giant robots just don’t do it for me. What the hell is the appeal? I don’t get it.
Any other hobbies?
Between watching anime and this stupid blog I don’t seem to have much time for my other hobbies these days, but they used to include reading (if that can be called a hobby), and composing music (mostly classical).
