Anaglyph’s Anime Appraisals

Inaugural Post of an Anime Neophyte

So, does the world wide web really need another anime blog? That’s the question that’s been troubling me for several weeks now (it’s on the list of troubling questions anyway, somewhere below more pressing matters such as “How the hell am I going to make it through Christmas with my bank balance the way it is?” and “Why does almost everyone seem to be having more sex than me?”). Contrary to appearances the answer I arrived at was actually “no”, but I decided to go ahead anyway. Lucky you! Hopefully I’ll be able to contribute something reasonably interesting to the anime blogging community now and then; if not, c’est la vie.

Everyone’s a critic

As the title of the entry indicates, I’m a newcomer to anime. I’ve only been watching for six months or so and have seen around twenty series. Expect lots of ignorance and errors. Since I’ll be covering stuff from the last six months of viewing don’t expect this blog to be at the cutting edge of current season analysis, and some of the series will be from seasons long since passed. As an anime neophyte I need to watch the classics of the past to fully understand the medium as it exists in the present. [Translated from pompous verbiage: the website that introduced me to anime had a lot of old stuff.] I am watching current anime too though, so you can expect random entries about anything from Maria-sama ga Miteru to Red Garden.

Anyway, if this seems like your cup of tea, I hope you enjoy reading; if this seems like the blog of a tedious windbag, who’s behind-the-times to boot… well, you’re probably correct.
